I have a 2003 90HP 4-stroke Mercury outboard. During idle, I notice a squeak/squeel from the engine. The noise doesn't seem to be rythmic but doesn't happen all the time, but more often than not. The best I can describe the sound is like a loose fan belt on a car engine.
The timing belt seems to be good ( 30 hrs ), but i dont know how to adjust the tensioner pulley. The Clymer manual describe "route back side of the belt on the port side of the tensioner pulley. Tighten the tensioner pulley and hook the tensioner spring through the opening in the tensioner".
it is strange because the spring has no effect to the play of the belt.
I need help because the reseler is very far.
Thanks in advance.
