timing dilema

92 150hp evinrude I like to re check my timing trying to get my engine to run better i fooled with the hi and low spark advances Is there any other way than using the engine analyzer which costs $275.00. anyone out there have a 92 150hp and can tell me how many clicks the hi and low are set at "just to compare" thanks!!

Gee! I think this might help. You could find that proper tool a cheap investment. If timing would make the engine run better! it would come to you out of the factory carton with that setting. Now that you have made change's without the proper tool! should be no problem putting it back.

You don't have to worry about the low speed spark advance, that just sets the idle rpm. You can either pay a dealer thier 1/2 hr. minimum charge to set the high speed with their special tool. You can also run the boat with a good driver and watch the timing mark using a quality timing light.
