I found a service manual for my 1975 here Boatinfo - boat brochures and manuals for boats and marine engines! It takes a while for it to download and you have to have the latest version of flash installed on your computer but it is a complete manual.

An '84 manual is still better than nothin',...
It ain't like the 3.0l changed much over the years,...

Not sure what you looked at, but the manual in Brian's link has all of Mercruisers manuals, through 2008.

You also have an 85 boat, but that doesn't mean your engine is an 85, could easily be an 84. Very common in boats. Post a serial number for your engine, and we will see if you need manual #3 or 10.

There is a little horizontal slide under the images for Service Manual #1 #2 #3 and #4 it goes all the way to service manual #42

Ok, I've identified this as a 1985 3.0L 140 and the correct service manual would be #10.

Ayuh,.... A Distributor lock bolt wrench,.... I think even Harbor Fright carries 'em,...
