timing light tach question

I have a timing light with an attached digital tach:confused, This tach is calibrated and designed for four cycle operation would this work on my outboard? would I have to divide the rpm's by 2 to get a corrct 2 cycle reading?

If it's an inductive timing light/tach and reads from one of the plug wires, yes, divide by 2.
