Hi, I have a twin counter rotating engine setup, the port engine is fine, the starboard engine seems not as crisp. These are brand new engines (long blocks) I checked the timing on the starboard engine and I have multiple marks to use. 1 is stamped' "vertical", another about 2 inches clockwise ( from the front looking towards the flywheel) which like the port motor was marked with white paint. The port motor is set at 10btdc, the starboard motor is off the scale if I use the white paint mark, or about 0 degrees if I use the mark stamped vertical. I tried setting the timing using the white paint mark, it will run, but is it the correct mark?
I had moved the dizzy during install, and was careful to mark it, but I think its off spec and not sure how to correct. The starboard engine is the reverse rotation engine. When I use the timing light, the mark moves when it revs up and it moves the same direction as the port engine. If I adjust the mark same as the port its noticeable different sounding, hesitant to rev.
I was going to pull the number 1 plug, to find tdc, then I realize I can't turn the crank and I have crank mount pump, I'll need to bump the starter to rotate the crank, so I'll need to get someone to assist.
