Timing on an 88 3.0?

Ive recently come across a service bulletin regarding the timing. No. 95-11- States a change in point gap (.016) and timing (8? BTDC)

I'm a little confused because I have an original Delco still on my motor. The service bulletin does not list the Delco what so ever. It only states the new Prestolite and says, "This is a replacement for the Delco, which is no longer available"

The information on my valve cover has the timing @ 6? BTDC and the point gap @ .022

Should I continue to run at the settings stated on my valve cover or go with the bulletin?

I'm hoping to get the boat back on the water tomorrow for some test runs after fixing some previous issues I had.

I got the boat running decent now, won't know for sure till I get it on the water. It does still idle a little funny and almost wondering if this is my issue...

Thanks in advance!

Ayuh,.... Seems quite self-explanatory to me,....

You don't have the distributor mentioned,...

Ok, I kinda thought that myself but since they had did out with Delco distributors and when I got the boat it was set at 8? BTDC, Just wanted some more opinions.

Unfortunately, my area is flooded at the moment so the test runs will have to wait.

The 8 degrees is a requirement of the motor, regardless of which dizzy you have. Could be monkeys flipping switches as long as the spark occurred 8 degrees BTDC

Even though my valve cover says 6?? I should go ahead and change the point gap too then eh?
