i have a 1977 Johnson 75hp, i was told it is a Stinger motor but not sure, the tag on the motor says the TIMING is supposed to be 16 degrees, but when i put timing light on it, it reads about 14 degrees, also the timing light is working on the other 2 cylinders but i can't get a reading on the flywheel to see where it is, & i'm still trying to figure out why it WONT GET UP TO FULL THROTTLE, there is spark but no reading on the other 2 cylinders, just the light going,,, also where is the timing adjuster & how do you adjust timing on it ???? PLEASE HELP

Re: Timing problem

Hi,, the timing marks can ONLY be seen using a timing light when connected to Number 1 cylinder ,,,timing for other cylinder/s is matched to number one so no need to check, also, be very careful when trying to attain WOT (full throttle) this should only be done using a test wheel and test tank otherwise serious damage can be caused to engine due to over revving ,, unsure about the actual timing setup but search the forum and I,m sure there will be a post regarding this,, good luck
