I've read all the sticky posts,
But I had a question my clymer book reads that if you have a prestolite ingnition to retard the timing 2 degrees at cranking speed at wot, and if you have the thunderbolt you have to advance the timing 2 degrees at cranking speed at wot, so in order to achieve 30 degrees on the thunderbolt I need to set this at 32 degrees cranking correct?

The book actually calls for 34 degrees cranking wich would be actually 32 degrees, how come it's not recommended to put at that time? Will it melt a piston because of today's gas ?

The "melting of pistons"
That could happen if the worst conditions were met.

As long as the air screws are set right and the motors not sucking air,
you shouldn't have a melt down.

Thanks Jerryjerry, because actually it's set at 34' which is actually 32' and what the book calls for!
When I put the thunderbolt ignition on the timing was preset, I never messed with it!
Boat runs great, I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to turn it down to 32' to achieve 30', so I'll leave it at 34' cranking which is actually 32' as the book calls for,
My air screws are 1 1/4 out seems to be good there, no stumble on quick throttle, thanks again.
