Can anyone help with the timing on a mercruiser 4.3 do I just point and adjust or is there a special sequence my engine number is ok003191 and it is a thunderbolt ignition thanks

Your S/N says it has a TB-5 ignition and with that you need to ground the purple white wire coming from the distributer to put the engine in base timing mode. Timing is set to 10 degrees BTDC. While in base timing this is also where the idle speed is adjusted to 650 RPM.
