Tiny Tach Coax length

I just ordered a Tiny Tach today. The technician advised me that the longer the coax cable... the weaker the signal to the display. I ordered 16 feet and was told to wind it around 5 times per plug wire vs 3 for the standard 10 foot length.

I would be interested to know from this community (Tiny Tach owners) just how long have you ordered your TT coax and how has it performed. Anybody out there order one with a 16 foot cable or longer?

I have the TINYTACH with hour meter, I got six feet of wire and it worked fine, if 15 is to much you can always trim it down. I should also tell you that they don't like getting snow on them...

Gil...

You'll probably get a better response to your post in "Electronics & Trolling Motors". Moving to that forum.

Mod2

My response was not good enough?

Sorry Sloopy, I didn't follow through when the moderator moved this post. Just realized where it went. I was told by the tech at Tiny Tach that I can't trim the cable once they make it. Doesn't make sense but thats what he said...

Changing the lenght of the coax changes the resistance in it and that changes the tach reading.

c/6
Hooty
