Tiny Tach Question

I have a 1983 Suzuki DT50, the remote control box is wired for a Tach install at the helm.

I have seen many references/ recommendations made to using the Tiny Tach to track RPMs for prop selection /tune up / carburetor adjustments.

Is this Tach intended for permanent installation? Can it be wired it into the wires in the remote control box?

Please feel free to recommend alterative options, economics is a factor. If possible I would like to avoid a higher priced gauge.

I use the Tiny Tack on my 90hp Yamaha, it is permantly installed on my dash.
It works as advertised and I'm happy with it.
