So the '86 boat I just bought had a missing bearing buddy on one trailer wheel, and I figured the bearings and races would be shot, which of course they were. I took the old ones in to the local trailer shop to get replacements, and the guy there, who was very helpful said, "why not buy new hubs? They come with new bearings, races already installed, and new bolts too! All for only a couple bucks more than just the bearings and races purchased separately."

Sounded like a great deal. It was a great deal. I double-checked the diameters, even though he seemed to know what he was talking about.

When I got home I greased up the bearings and the axle and put the hub on. Strangely, the threads of the axle weren't sticking out far enough, couldn't get the castle nut on...

AAAAARGGhh...
The hubs were too long. The trailer store was closed by then, and I didn't want to wait to get it taken care of..I knocked the races out of the new hubs and knocked them into the old ones. So much for saving time.
