Re: Tips for engine removal please

I dont think i can get the pics up right now but i can def tell you what i did for now.. It really was pretty easy just time consuming. i spent my friday taking most of the stuff apart . I started with the outdrive. I did not drain the lube maybe should have but i made sure the drive was engaged in forward position. Next i took the trim cylinder hardware off and knocked the pin out that held the two cylinders to the drive. Next was pulling off the drive unit 6 bolts and a hex screw and pulled it off i needed to wiggle it for a few minutes to get it off not bad at all . next was prepping the engine for the pull.
unplug only the things i needed to -water pipe that connects at the transom
elbow of exhaust manifild, trim wires, drive lube tube needed to be capped , as well as the gas line neeeded a cap, battery was obviously diconnected and taken out, disconneted the wire harness from the engine( large connection) Prior to the pull i untightened the rear motor mount screws these were a bit of a pain - I had them lossened until the actually pull.Day of the pull, the front Abracket that mounts the engine to the boat had to be removed so that the coupler could slide out so that was only done when we had the engine supported because if you take those brackets out the engine will drop in the bay-not something you want to happen. used a pry bar to move the engine a few inchews back for the coupler to slide out and it was done. I labeled all wires that i undid and took some video but I think it was pretty unnecassy because its pretty easy. Just do things carefully and methodically, I used hammer to get the trim cylinder pin out the bushings were toasted -took some force. The motor mounts were pretty awnry as well
Thats it Oh yeah im sure im forgetting a few things like the shifting mechanism had to be pulled off -but thats just a few screws. If im missing anything please anyoone feel free to chime in.

Ill gets ome other pics up tomorrow good luck its not bad
