In my opinion, nothing looks better than a restored whaler. If it is an 85 he can probably preasure wash the inside and rebuff the gelcoat. When I was 13 I restored my 13' 1964. It came out beatiful.
I think you are rite JB. I dont think he wants to restore it. But to be given a Boston Whaler and not take advantage is a shame.
He thinks it would be cool to restore just he doesnt know how and it gets hard to help cause they do alot of things like baseball and other sports so im trying to spend time with him to fix it. Personally maybe he should sell it to one of you guys and wit that money and some allowance he cant get a new one. But im trying to fix it with him. Is there any places like a westmarine that would love to fix for a price (sry cant get a pic his dad is a protective dad who thinks that if some who lives nearby will see the pic and will know it is usable. There is some kids who dont have big lives in our neighborhood ) thx for the tips guys i really appriaciate it and cross your fingers he will find time any good steps at restoring it? im not too good at working with boats (more of a motor guy) and thx for all the help you guys have given me and him
JB-
How did you go about draining the water from between the foam and hull? I have a 1970 17 Whaler which is a bit over weight and think that may be the issue.
Thanks-
