Anything you do is usually better than nothing. Covers that prevent any sun from reaching them are best. Parking on wood or other hard surface is better than leaving the tires sink into the dirt along side the garage.

I am not a fan of putting stuff on rubber to preserve it. You could make some plywoood cutouts to fit the shape of the fenders and lean them over the tires when it's parked. Mines on dirt but I put 6 foot 2x12's under the tires to support it and it helps keep it a little higher to leave it bow high for drainage. It's like a target to hit when I am backing it in too.

Take the wheels off for winter. Summer any screen is better than nothing.

Why not take them off every day the sun is out and store them indoors :p

Re: tire protection ?

Good topic. My Dad took a sample of Armor All to his lab and checked it for UV protection. He found Armor All to have no UV inhibitors.

A sample of 303 showed it does have some (not a great amount) of UV inhibitors.

So with his findings, I would use 303 instead of anything else. I buy it in bulk and use it on everything... even the gelcoat for a quick tune up between outings.

my answer is: use nothing on them and figure on replacing in 5-8 years.... the lack of cracks on the exterior does nothing to guarantee the condition or safety of the tire.

Most of tire products you put on tires are shiney and will attrack the sun light to it like a magnafine glass thats why those tires tend to rot out faster than if you put nothing on em. I would either take em off, dont worry about em, or tire covers. my thoughts
