Does anyone have a good online, affordable source for trailer tires?
None of the local shops stock them and the specialy order price is way too high. They want $130 per tire for 14".
I have four trailers to put tires on, I don't plan to spend $2000 plus to put new tires on, plus the one needs new rims.
For as far as I drive, I don't need high end tires, I only run about 12 miles tops to the farthest ramp with the largest trailer.

You could just drive right down to eastern marine and pick them up if the shipping is that much it is only a few hours each way

I find it hard to believe that in NJ, a half or one hour drive in any direction would fail to locate a tire store, farm store, or other retail outlet that had trailer tires in stock for reasonable prices. Ordering on line requires shipping charges and you still need to have them mounted and balanced plus you need to pay to have the old ones recycled. Why not just buy them locally and chances are with that many tires involved, negotiate for the disposal of the old ones.

Re: Tire sources?

There are plenty of places that can order them, none that I called had them in stock. There was one place that had 3, but they wanted $60 each and would only sell them if they did the mount and balance and disposal. I will mount my own tires and disposal is not a problem, the local trash collection will take them for free.
The last set I bought was from an online source when I lived in PA, the set only cost me $120 carry out price. It don't make sense to me why trailer tires should cost more than the tires for my truck? I can go to any discount tire outlet around here and get a set of 4 tires for my truck for $120-$135. I don't drive that far and don't need high dollar tires. My tires usually rot away before the wear out.
I would take good used in a heart beat, I'd rather have good used than auto tires on these, but if I can't find them cheap enough I won't have any other option.
One thing that really surprises me is that being so close to the shore and with all the boats and trailers around, there's no place around here that stocks either tires or trailer parts. I had to drive 45 minutes to get a set of square U bolts today, and at that they weren't exactly what I wanted.
I replaced all the bearings in one trailer the other day, i had gotten those online, locally they wanted $22.99 per cup/cone set here, and online they were $8 per wheel with shipping.

Re: Tire sources?

I ordered my trailer tires from Tire Rack (www.tirerack.com).
They carry the Goodyear Marathon Radials.
The price was right, and the shipped directly to the local Goodyear shop.
The shop was to busy to install them for me so I just picked the up and had them installed somewhere else.

Good price, fast shipping, good tires.

I just bought a ST 205 15 with the rim off of eBay for less than I could buy just a tire locally.

A couple years ago, I purchased from http://www.richardstire.com/. 13" tire $39, wheel $20, shipping $16.

I placed the order over the phone, but Richard was excellent. He's located right near Mackinaw.

Usual disclaimers, just passing along a good experience.

I would do that, then. All of our horse trailers and flat beds came with LT tires when new, and that's what we run on them still. Not to get into the ST vs. LT debate, but it would be a much better choice than P tires...
