Tired of scraping off them scales yet?

Saw the slickest method yet tonight, a few freinds got together and we picked up fresh sockeye, and Jim says we can descale them in no time. So he fires up the pressure washer and secures the tails to a plank with a clamp, and 35 minutes later we got 28 fish done!! Now that's the quick and easy way to do it, give it a try works slicker than goose :p

A regular garden hose with a jet tip works also. For those tough ones, screw two rows of four bottle caps to a piece of wood.

1) I like fluke fishing and at a 22 inch minimum size limit I aint caugh any to scale!

2) When scaled with a pressure washer, how long does it take to clean-up the mess from the scales? How far do they spread out?

I have a sneaking suspicion that it takes longer to clean-up than it would to have just filleted the fish.:D

I would think that a pressure washer would damage the flesh of the fish.

Here is Louisiana, it is common to use an electric fillet knife. Once you have a little practice behind you, you can separate the fillet from the body of the fish and then slice the skin off, scales and all, in one swift movement.

I like the skin on my fillets, so I don't do this, but it is an efficient and simple way of getting the job done. One of the best parts, is that almost all of the scales stay atached to the skin, which is simply thrown in a trash bag, so you don't have them all over the place.
