TLDI air pump cost

I have my motor in the shop. I was told today that I need to replace the air pump. Fuel and air psi are around 50 psi. Need to be at 80 & 90 PSI
I being told the cost for the pump is $680.

is there a better cost for this part out there?

Depending on who you get it from $600-$650. The $680 is a hair high, but they may be figuring next day air freight, which would make it about right....One thing though, ask why it's bad. If they say water, then you have or had contaminated fuel.

I was told that when pressurizing the air rail while running the motor the fuel & air psi rise. Indicating blow by of the air pump piston. The cause of the damage is un know yet as I don't think he has removed it yet. I asked him about rebuilding it and was told that the cost would be more then to replace it.

This is a bummer. I was not planning on spending a grand on this.

Should I expect more power out of the motor when the air and fuel pressure is restored?
