Hi everybody, just wondering if the cylinder heads are the same on a 150 - 200 hp black max for '79 and the stroke is the only difference? I'm not sure if the bore is larger or not, probably due to displacement increases. Any thoughts would be great guys.

Cheers,

FOOTER

mellow yellow, there are no exhaust ports in the cylinder head, it's a 1979 200, ergo a 2 stoke. the exhaust and intake ports are in the power head. it's a very simple cylinder head design with water jacket ports, head bolt ports and a combustion chamber, that's it.

The 200 supports larger pistons than the 150. The heads are not interchangeable.

TMD

that's what I figured, that sucks... guess I'll get out my die grinder and head porting attachements. when #2 piston fragmented it almost "shot peened" itself into the head deck of the cylinder head. no damage to the c/c. think I'll try to clean it up and have the head surface ground for flatness. I work for an automotive tool & die maker and we have allot of CNC milling capability and surface grinding machinery.
barring this TMD, do you think I'd have some pretty major challenges ahead of me trying to locate a pair of used 200 merc heads? The other one looks new. infact all c/c's look unbelievable good, well except for the one with the piston embedded in it! Hahahaha... Good thing winter is rapidly approaching us on the West Coast....

FOOTER
