Re: to all my tinny friends !

I have a real hard time knocking wood boats. They are truly works of art in my book and always wanted to build one.

How about those jet skis. Always buzzing around while your fishing on an otherwise peaceful trip.

Re: to all my tinny friends !

That boat should have sold like hotcakes ...

If it wasn't so fugly !

When i was a kid in Edmonton, a guy was building a big sail boat from concrete is his back yard....the boat was big.....taller than his 2 story house. It took up most of the legnth of his back yard......that means at least 50 feet long.
Even when i was 4 years old i had questions. Questions like....how is it gonna float if its made form cement.....and after its done.....how ya gonna move it? The boat was too big to be moved by a semi truck.....it couldn't even fit under a tall bridge or never mind telephone wires. Was he gonna air lift it?....i just didn't understand.
10 years went by and he still was not done....but he was working on it all the time. When i went back later in life to look at the boat....It was gone....i still don't know how he moved it, or if it was destroyed then moved.
It was kinda like Noah building a boat in his back yard and waiting for the floods !

All the boat builders are wearing suit coats:cool:

that was just too funny......i cannot imagine wearing an armani to a build.
obviously, the owner of the shop told the boys to dress up. they even hid the beer bottles. !

man.....i would not wear a suit to a build even if i was working on a skin cutting, hull leaking, stretched metal, tin boat !

Re: to all my tinny friends !

What is Al you men EEEE um????

Websters has it as a Latin word stolen by the Australians.

Latin.....AL you men EEE um .......(boatus cuttis)

Another slang for the word in Latin is .....al-UUU mean ium. (leakus reevitus)

But the Australians stole the word as now know spell it.

In the Northern Territory, (where Crocodile Dundee lives.....he is real you know !) AL you men EEE um. Means cuttis crockus

Apparently when the crocks bite the boats, the crocks cut there mouth open and some times the crocks jaw gets cut off.

The fisherman that was in the boat was drown a long time ago due to leaking reevits.

However. due to recent advances in technology ...like S.C.U.A.B.B.A. (Self Contained Underwater Aluminium Boat Breathing Apparatus) Both the crocodile hunter and the fisherman can live much longer, more productive lives.

Most however....are switching to fibreglass (as stated in the vid), crocks respect nice glass boats.

I have attached a simple diagram of the elements of Aluminum versus Glass.

Thanks, CBK. This explains all the Q's like:

Why won't my resin cure?
Is it too cold to glass?
Is it too hot to glass?
Do I need waxed or un-waxed?
Why won't my epoxy stick to my epoxy?
Paint or gelcoat? What's a guy gonna do?
What do you mean I have to use pour in foam to give my glasser structural strength?
My flip-flop is stuck to my fresh glass. Best way to remove?

It goes on and on.
