Re: to all my tinny friends !
Question I have is why does it seem that the glassies are the ones that sink. I have 2 friends near by that had glassies and both of them sunk...and when was the last time you saw a news report of a boat that has flipped over or sunk and they not be glassies? Huh? makes you think
lol......uh....me thinks you have the blinders on.
according to insurance stats.......small aluminum boats swap or sink everyday. so over all, metal sinks far more than glass
when we are talking over 17 feet......the ratios remain.....glass out sells metal 10 to 1 (actually i think its more like 30 to 1.
but as for sinking.....tin boats go down too. for every 10 glassers that go down.... 2 tinnys go.....(granted this may be due to the fact that they are widely used as river boats that are really put through hell..... but the ratios are constant....
these facts are taken from a conversation i had with an insurance agent. when trying to buy sunk boats.
glass boats have wood.....wood rots........glass boats are changing to rot free materials....
metal boats have reevits......they leak......that is not changing. (yes you can go welded....but for the cost of a good welded boat.....you can buy a 30 footer glass boat with a genny and twins !
in short....glass wins !
