Re: to all my tinny friends !

um......yeah.......a few reasons for this.......

1. the glass boats were WORTH keeping.

by who, the boneyard owner, and the funny thing he said was it seemed everyday more seem to magically appear in the middle of the night..............called abandonment!

2. the tin boats were turned back into what they were made from.....beer cans !

by whom? we restore them because they were made from beer cans......nice

3 glass boat guys needed the beer cans for all the chicks they get on
Tinheads don't need alcohol to induce(get on) chicks.....lol

4 the boat with the flora in them is just another creative idea to show case the beauty of these boats.

as flower pots, there number one destination after rot, spider cracks, chips, faded gelcoat, rotten stringers, yada and..............yada

Why the need for beer to lure? Thought the boat was the selljob?

Yes, by all means, buy it!!! ($10 would be better though)

It will make the perfect sacrifice to Aluminus, overlord of all watery passages and destroyer of the rotten hull plague.

(The angry mob would have to be assembled, pitchforks and torches replaced with sawzalls and chainsaws.)

My 43 year old boat flew off my trailer, over a fence and landed 30 feet into a cow pasture.

(sung to the tune of Blondie, Heart of Glass)

I had a couple boats, made of glass
Soon found out, their a pain in the azzz
Its a classic boat
But theres something growing
from behind
I think its no good..
All glass and
rotten wood..yahhhhh
Cant you see
Its a losing game
Just a little drop of rain
and your grinding glass all day

Had a couple of boats made of glass
Soon found out
their pains in the azz....

Not only is that tinny less attractive than the mangled glasser, but it still wants to cut your face off.

Not sure if you took that with any offense, but I didn't mean it to be... I thought it was clear that I was kidding. Sorry if you did and FWIW I think you did a great job on the boat.

Re: to all my tinny friends !

the whole reson for this thread was light hearted fun.....

if any one is taking offence to the tinny vs glass issues.....its best to read the tread form the beginning.....and just chill..... this is just light hearted fun

zops comments were in line with this statment

............ compared to the more beautiful, more seaworthy, more elegant, more easy to get chicks in, nicer, more common, more socially accepted, more politically correct, fibreglass boats

kev......you have to read the thread from the beginning......

this thread is for social fun on the forum......both boats have merrit.....and both styles are beautiful (or can be).

now.....with all that out of the way.....

carry on.....

by the way........has any one told you metal guys, that if you put your boat in the ocean for too long it will melt right out from under you and sink? those boats could be the death of you !

Lightning is attracted to metal objects....

145366d1292359919-lightning-damage-metal-boats-103-0334_img.jpg

Nice try, but way off base in your attempted humor

"There is no such thing as lightning-proof boats, only lightning-protected boats. All-metal ships are rarely damaged, and injuries or deaths are uncommon. These ships are frequently struck, but the high conductivity of the large quantities of metal, with hundreds of square yards of hull in direct contact with the water, causes rapid dissipation of the electrical charge.

But small boats are seldom made of metal. Their wood and fiberglass construction do not provide the automatic grounding protection offered by metal-hulled craft. Therefore, when lightning strikes a small boat, the electrical current is searching any route to ground and the human body is an excellent conductor of electricity!

Today's fiberglass-constructed small boats, especially sailboats, are particularly vulnerable to lightning strikes since any projection above the flat surface of the water acts as a potential lightning rod. In many cases, the small boat operator or casual weekend sailor is not aware of this vulnerability to the hazards of lightning. These boats can be protected from lightning strikes by properly designed and connected systems of lightning protection. However, the majority of these boats are not so equipped.

Lightning protection systems do not prevent lightning strikes. They may, in fact, increase the possibilities of the boat being struck. The purpose of lightning protection is to reduce the damage to the boat and the possibility of injuries or death to the passengers from a lightning strike."
