But small boats are seldom made of metal. Their wood and fiberglass construction do not provide the automatic grounding protection offered by metal-hulled craft. Therefore, when lightning strikes a small boat, the electrical current is searching any route to ground and the human body is an excellent conductor of electricity!

Hmmm I wonder if Gruman and Tracker are aware of this???

Most small boats are made out of Fiberglass. Makes sense to me!!!

Maybe you crossed the line a bit advising readers that aluminum boats are lightning attractors, and nothing is further from the truth, and is misinformation

actually.... i likes woodies photograph of the tomato can infested leak platform !

and this being a tinny vs glasser light hearted fun thread......we cannot bring blow boats or there rag hanging captains into the foreay....

to do so would allow undesirables (we have accepted revit bangers) to interact with our environmentaly pure, clean gasoline powered beautys.

hi starman......this is thread is all in good fun......and ALL of the INFORMATION on this thread IS DISinformation....

By the way, I never said aluminum boats attacted lightning, I said "Metal Objects", and THAT is a true statement. That's why when ever there is a Lighning storm and I'm on the Golf Course I always put a 1 Iron over my head, cuz even GOD can't hit a 1 Iron.

By the way, the Picture I posted was an actual Aluminum Boat that burned after being struck by lightning.
