The fish are back and its time to get the boat back in the water. Hopefully sometime next week.

The only Spring prep I do is fill the oil tank w/ 2 stroke oil and start the motor before the first outting. No cleaning, waxing, etc until after Spring Trophy Season is over in mid-May.

Re: To all you that have a winter...

temps went up to 50 Sunday so I was testing props for the spring.

When I de-winterize it is when I reinstall the bimini.

Seriously, I did some mechanical maintenance in the fall, to be safe for winter fishing, which ends Dec 31. If I paint the bottom this year it will be in April so I won't miss good boating weather and to get ahead of the crowds at the boat yard. Will do some mechanical then, and the annual waxing while it's on the trailer (it seldom leaves the water).

To all you guys in the south, careful how nice you make it sound down there or your waters will be over run when the rest of us move down there.

Your welcome here anytime , sublauxation. Can I drive your boat?

Mine sits in my inlaws heated barn during the winter, so I can visit and work on it anytime I need to. This winter, I've been over there almost every weekend doing upgrades. :)

That's an awful lot of time with the inlaws...

i live in mass and i generally wait for all the crap from the high water level clear out on the Connecticut river before i put it in. its alil later then some, i start to wash and wax the hull a couple weeks before as its already warm and put the battery in and attach the muffs and start her up after putting lube in the lower unit. no sense in plowing into a bunch of submerged trees that were picked off the shore line by the high water. plus i tube wakeboard and kneeboard. have u ever almost hit a dead head? its scary

Sure, what the hell, but it seems yours is a little more fun and seaworthy, probably has a bigger cooler too! I saw some pics posted from you fishing down there with another IBoater, those are some crazy looking fish, makes staying up here difficult.

I usualy start cleaning and prepping in April and then get discouraged when I realize any useable weather is still two months away....

This is the month we run through everything and make sure she's sea worthy. It's been sitting since December and growing cobwebs. Time to take her for a spin and blow them out.

I plan on a bit of bottom cleaning in the next couple of days here in central OH. My water hose is now thawed out, and my bottom cleaning chemical works above 40 degrees. This is my first real boat so im a bit excited about getting started.

I would boat year-round, but my family is a bunch of Southerners who don't take the cold very well:rolleyes:. Maybe next year I'll be able to spend enough time with my family, that going off on my own with the boat won't seem like abandonment:facepalm:.

Been tinkering 1/2 of the winter but am gonna powerwash the bottom today. It didn't get done because we pulled the boat out late this season and the hose was frozen.
