CK, she should push well with a trolling motor, but is rated up to a 5hp. Since it is going in a large pond, she will probably be skulled as much as anything.<br /><br />Pony, the classic shape of this boat is why I chose it. That bow is interesting to build...

I got lazy with the minimax page but have been meaning to update it, so, with your reminder, I have updated it with some new pics and a couple of movies. The movies are large file size and poor quality so beware. <br /><br />The project is still in activity... just having trouble finding the time to get out to the lake with it. <br /><br />To anyone who builds one of these... even with the poor finishing work i've done on this, it draws a crowd. I think they just want to watch me sink and stand there in amazement when I climb in and take off I'm considering repainting the top as a rebel flag. Thats considerd just being a good ole red blooded american in my cornor of the country.

are you shooting the rapids at ck's house? <br />here's the way to find out... build one... take it down the stairs... if you manage to get it down there i'm betting youll be able to get it up the stairs <br /><br />Realistically, it depends on how many turns you have going down the stairs... and how much head room you have at the shortest point.

Don't bother Pony, just fill the basement with water and throw in some fish. <br /><br />Wimper, go ahead and throw a 90 horse on a sneakbox if you want I think it would want to roll over like a dog if too much power is applied in a turn. I think 5 horse would be good for one if built traditionally. I mentioned earlier that I would consider changing the transom and maybe the frame ahead of that to give the boat a bit harder chine towards the back in order to improve planing handling. Hopefully it would run nice with a 10 horse and maybe get me 25 mph. The drawback would be that the rowing and poling abilities might be affected negatively. Another issue, if the boat were to be used for stealth, is chine slap when chop or waves pass the boat.

WEll.. I was feeling brave tonight... and took the 2 oldest outside with me... I cut and glued/screwed #1 of 7 frames... that one and the next are the hardest.. the others are pretty much "U" shaped. I took a picture with my 2 month old $200 Digital.. only to come in and find the cord is smuckered on it.. so I'll have to figure out a way to get the pictures off the camera and onto the puter.... Samsung's gettin a call in the morning... <br /><br />Anyways.... 1 down 6 to go...
