To buy or not to buy

To buy or not to buy. That is the question. I am looking at a 1992 Challenger 17' with an 88 Evinrude. My research shows the company is no longer in business. Does anyone out there know anything about these boats?? Its in good condition but I can't afford to buy a "Lemon". Thanks for any help out there. Also, I'm a "newbe" to iboats, GREAT THREADS.

That is not enough info for an opinion. What year and model and HP is the engine? Pictures?

I stated that it was a 1992 with an "88" evinrude. It is a "168" Hot Shot which measures 17'. The boat looks new but I don't know anything about the manufacturers reputation or the quality of their boats. Thanks for any help.

I'm not familiar with the boat brand. That's a great motor though and should push a 17' pretty well. Your biggest concern on any older 'glass boat is rot in the wooden components of the hull. You want a solid deck and transom. ANY soft spots are usually indicative of more serious rot in the stringers below. If it's solid, it sounds like a good boat to me.
