I have a 1987 Tracker Bass Buggy and the floor has to be replaced. I have purchased the 3/4" marine plywood that I need for the job, My question stems from several comments from some non-knowledgeable friend who say that even tho I have marine plywood I should still paint the new plywood before laying the new carpet...My question is should I paint and if so with what...another guy said a good polyurethane would do the trick...All comments welcomed!

I think in replacing the deck it is recommended to resin and glass it.
At least resin the bottom before laying down then glass it in. Way better than just paint. Are the stringers in good shape?
Have you checked the transom for rot?

Boats have decks, not floors. Your friend is somehow right. Even you are using marine plywood the wood can rot. You are better either using poly or expoxy to cover the new deck. Then you can either paint it or put the carpet. You could paint it AND put the carpet but I dont see much use on that. Go to the restoration forum, plenty of information about glassing there.
