What are the pros and cons of both the Power Drive and regular cable foot controlled trolling motors? I'll be replacing a bow mount 1989 Minn Kota cable foot controlled trolling motor on a 17' Bass Tracker. I have a transducer mounted to the bottom of my current one and would like to do the same to the new one or get the one with the universal transducer inside the motor, but it's a little pricey. Anybody used the universal transducer?

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

Slow-n-ez I have a 60" 70 lbs thrust Minn Kota power drive universal sonar that on my 1800 Lund. I really like it. I can run the trolling motor from the back of the boat where I often do while just drifting live bait.

My son in law just picked up new tracker with power drive. Third time out run over a stump and busted "lock" on the trolling motor. He got bsck to the boat launch holding the motor in place with his hands. Took 100 bucks of parts to get it fixed. He also hates the response of the motor to pedal. his words after all this: "when this thing dies I'm getting All Terrrain or Maxum". Also the Autopilot thing seems to be overrated to it's "drunk" all the time.

Does anybody know if the universal transducer has a temp sensor in it?

I have a Minn Kota 55 Power Drive and love it. I got rid of the crappy foot control and went with a CoPilot, damn is that nice. It really helps with "boat back" and you can steer it from any where in the boat. I can put my foot up on the gunnle and take pressure off my back. Git one!! You will love it.

lee
