To rebuild or not

I have a 1996 90 hp ocean runner . Motor siezed up from water getting inside from piston sleeve . Was told by mechanic .anyway he said he is going to disassemble powerhead to see if crank is ok. Or for saltwater intrusion . He gave me a price to rebuild for $2000 with crank being good, crank bad $2500. Is it worth the rebuild if water got inside .and how good are these motors to rebuild .
