To remove or not remove battery for winterizing

I got two really nice marine batteries one of which is a blue top Optima. They were brand new this spring. Should I remove them or just leave them in during the winter months here in Pennsylvania?

Thanks,
Tom

they will need a charge every month so i say its better to remove them rather than to have to go out in the cold to charge them.

I leave mine in but I have an on-board charger which is plugged in 24/7.

I remove my battery and bring it into the basement where it spends the winter on a floating point Battery Tender.
I'm still using the original factory battery on a 2003 model, so I must be doing something right.

I do have an in-board charger but I use the inverter in my truck to power it. Where I live, boats arn't allowed, so I rent a lot at a storage facility. So I'm guess I gotta pull them out.
Thanks for all the replies.
