Well if we're throwing numbers out there, my grandfather had a Quantum 18' bass boat (Bass Pro junk before Nitro I believe) with a 115 Merc that would hit 40-43mph WOT. If you more than doubled the horsepower on that same boat, it would have been a rocket. I don't know many modern bass boats with 250HP that don't do 65-70mph with some breaking into the 80's. Those things handle scary enough at 50mph, much less 80!!
