Well you have a rough ride ahead....communication {didn't work for me usually made things worse} Dr Appointment...worked a little bit for about 2 days.....Called her friends invited them over I bought the booze and went out with the boys....worked like a charm they talked and cried together...got drunk also.....So bottom line is you can try to support her but another womens support is about all that will get them back on track A ......track B forget about it won't happen in your life time....their on track B ,3 days after your married

If you try to "alert" her of her obviously irrational behavior and she only gets madder, my best advice is to leave her alone for a while to think and calm down. Like dolluper said sometimes communication, no matter how true, well ment, sincere and understanding, is about useless, and could possibly make things worse! In time you'll learn to deal w her........... or she'll kill you:D....... just kidding.

They're not all like this. My wife went thru it. Very few issues at all, aside from the hot flashes. No irritability, no arguing...I must be the lucky one.

Re: To those fellas been that been married a long time

My first wife went through the operation but years later passed away from another illness........ I am re-married now and my wife gets moody too.

Regardless of the operation regardless of the situation just remember the woman you married and consider how you two have grown together. I am a bit old fashioned and stick to the vows of better or worse....... Make sure your wife knows you love her and remind her of that daily. Trust me I speak from experience (and many other's sadly have the same background here)...... There are MANY worse things that you could be enduring so just consider this a bump in the road. I pray it's the only bad experience and you will look back and laugh at it some day.

FYI I have 36 + years of being married......do I qualify ;)

I have 25 in, do I qualify? We all have very tough things to go through when Our partners have life changing situations happen.

Talk, Talk, and Talk some more It takes moxie to get through this, but remember you married the woman and not the uterus..she will come around..as will you, be understanding, be mad, but most of all, just be there

This is not the time to cut and run, I am sure with patience, things will be worked out and you sit back and wonder why this question even came up.

Good luck..

Re: To those fellas been that been married a long time

Been married 40 years and as women go thru their stages depression is often a symptom. I went through a bout of what your going thru with my wife and finally she went to see her dr. and was put on Lexapro for a while. The anger deal got under control and things got 100% better. The good news it wasn't a permanent deal, after a period things settled down and she didn't need the meds. This isn't confined to older women either, my daughters went through it as well. Seems to mainly be a chemical imbalance deal. She should see a dr. and discuss things. Just a suggestion I think you may want to check out.

Sorry to hear about this, for both of you.
All I can do is tell you how the word "Hysterectomy" came about.

In the early early days of mental health, when a woman was institutionalized and actually suffering from skitzophrenia (yes its mispelled)
The medical industry felt that any mental problem a woman would have HAD to originate with all that complex plumbing.
They actually removed the ovaries, fallopian tubes and ectera to cure her.

Thus to RECTIFY HYSTERIA.

Sorry for the issues you have gone through.

Best wishes.

well she spoke with the Dr and she got some pain meds that don't make her sick....so not being in pain is helping!
we had lots of talks this weekend and she is really trying hard and I can see it
but I am still trying to think- before I speak

Re: To those fellas been that been married a long time

I am learning to be a listner...when she tells me how she is feeling she does NOT want any answers from me just some understanding
I am not known for my patients or putting on a happy face or being very compassionate but I am working on it!
cgd, I think this is the right track to take. Track "C"??? :D

I got to miss out, my S.O. had cancer of the uterus in her 20's long before I met her! Not to say she doesn't get "moody" once in a while though.
