My brother took my boat down to the gas station and fill it up with premium gas and he used the right mixture of oil. He told me that he added that type of engine cleaner that you put into the empty gas tank. My father says not to do this in that old of an engine cause it can cause some serious problems is this true Please answer me i need to know if i should drain the remaining gas out of the tank.

A lot of additives contain alcohol, just as most pump gasoline does now, and alcohol will degrade the old non-alcohol rsistant hoses, causing the material to flow into your carburetors. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=330129

Alcohol will also disolve gel formed when premixed fuel evaporates or is stored too long, also helping it to find its way to your carburetors.

Pure fuel stabilizers are usually safe, but products like SeaFoam contain relatively large quantities of alcohol and are probably better used by direct injection.
