Todd Gas Caddy

Got my 28-gal (250 lbs. when full) Gas Caddy delivered last week, and it's covered with warnings about NOT filling it in the back of a truck. So, how are you supposed to transport it back and forth to the gas station? I could put it on the ground for filling, but would need at least one other helper to get it back on the truck. Guess the question is, WHY not fill it on the back of a truck (or SUV, for that matter)?

The best thing to do is get a ramp for your truck so you can roll the caddy in and out of the bed. Better to be safe than BBQed.

Some plastics can create great amounts of static electricity. Give the static a path of less resistance (fuel nozzle) and you have potential for disaster.

You can get around this by adding a ground wire and attaching it to the tank and then to the fuel nozzle away from the outlet. Similar to what refuelers do on aircraft.

It happened to me, ONCE about 15 years ago.:redface:
Luckily I caught it without any damage/fire.

Don't even think about it.

Get a ramp for your pickup to load/unload.

I have been filling my 4 25 gallons jerry cans in the suv all summer. I placed them on the back right in front of the hatch door. Only thing last time they told me I had to fill them outside the suv.

I seen a thing on trucks (speed channel) about a small crane that locks in the hitch receiver maybe you could get one of those.
