Hello all. This is one of the older M18C (SN 22229) with the "free-floating" float. The float has no tab connected to it. You can see the illustration for clarity.

Is there a procedure for setting the float level (height?) If so....can you tell me what the spec is?

Thanks so much. My engine runs very well at mid to wide-open but seems to be rich (4-stroking) at above idle to mid. Advance the throttle past that and it clears and runs great.

Thank You.

My early (sn22229) version "free-floating" float doesn't appear in the Manual that I have. Could you post a copy of the relevant pages ?

This One. It's 003-21035-1 I'll try and post the full PDF here in an effort to help others.

Even with aggressive compression of the PDF it is too large a file to post here. If anyone wants it please PM me and I can e-mail it to you.

Thanks Paul. I appreciate it. Although the manual I have does not address the float setting for the older version Tohatsu M18C that I have. They talk about the newer float design with the attached tab. My float has no tab; as evidenced by the illustration in my original post.

BTW.....Tohatsu themselves in Europe make the Service Manuals available for download. They are PDF's in English! Here's the link:
