We here in Finland are sold Tohatsu 9.8 hp 2 cyl. strangled 6 hp.

This is the same engine, the differences probably can be found in carburator, I guess.

Which parts of the from that carburator to be changed, the lifting power to succeed.

Spare part drawing, the difference is only main jet, or a different size carburators throttle.

Or is it easier to make a 6 hp to 8 hp.

Information prior to giving thanks to Taisto in Finland.

No, sorry to say you can't.

The 4/5/6 is a one-cylinder family; The 8/9.8 2-cylinder family is a different block. You can bump a 4 to a 6. Likewise, you can bump an 8 to a 9.8. But you cannot carb the 1-cylinder to perform like a 2-cylinder.

Same frame, different block. You could do it, but it wouldn't be cost effective.

After all, there is the same in both the cylinder block.

- Number of cylinders is 2
- Cylinder capacity is 209 cm?.
- Stroke x bore is 59 x 44

How can it be a different block?

These same data can be found in both types of machine technical information.

The blocks have different porting. Look at the parts book and compare the part numbers.

Yes, I noticed no difference in the numbers of spare parts.

Apparently, then so be it.

The part numbers are different.
9.8 = 3K9B011001M
6 = 3B2B011002M
