Hello, would you or any other knowledgeable person by chance know when Tohatsu is planning on releasing their 150 TLDI? Ive been holding back on my boat purchase waiting for this engine. Yes, I want it that bad.

There isn't one to "come out" The next TLDI due out is a 135 sometime next year. If there is a 150 in development I don't know a thing about it. Of course, if they buy out either one of the two smaller manufacturers they could have all those lovely four-stroke anchors all the way up to 300 hp

thanks for the help, I was under the impression that the block was going to be tuned to produce 150, oh well.

As for the Yamaha, I won't go into the reasons why I do not care for them, especially on my second post here. Just that Tohatsu has earned my business and with all three that I have owned, I have not had one problem caused by poor quality control or poor design. Tohatsu has NEVER issued a recall and in today's business world that says something, they do their homework before releasing anything.

Tohatsu will keep getting my business because in my opinion, they want it more than the other guys.

Any general idea how that 135 would perform on this boat, I figured 150 would be the minimum?

I expect the weight to be around 3700 lbs loaded up, would I end up burning up the engine running it too hard?

A 135 would be too small for practical use. It would plane the boat, but you would wish that you gone with a V6 in anything else. Also, I wouldn't be afraid of getting a Yamaha. Their QC is as good as anyone elses. I'm not big on the idea of the consumer being the last part of the R & D process, but other than rushing production a little Yamaha is a first class manufacturer. In fact, if I needed a V6 it would be Yamaha, Evinrude, Suzuki, Honda and Mercury in that order.

just curious, why Honda second to last? I always thought of them as first rate, only problem is them being 100% 4 stroke

Regarding Yamaha, are you referring to the 2's, 4's or both, please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought they were having some trouble with the HPDI's or have they solved them?

Honda is a first rate engine, but as you pointed out, they are loathsome 4-strokes and therefore are towards the rear. Suzuki, even though they are pigs, have less in the way of "design it again" issues. Mercury, is well...Mercury. The engines aren't bad, but the company is run by evil dwarfs bent on world domination

I like Yamaha, even though they are imperfect. HPDI may have been imperfect, however, it does work now.
