I cant find any info on the charging system output . Im just figurin on battery drain verses charging input from the motor . I plan on having a house battery for my inflatable Flounder slayer. I dont care if the battery is flat at the end of the nocturnal hunt ( just get a bigger battery ) but it would be good to know if I can get an extra hour or whatev because of the outboards charging contribution .
So , does anyone know what the continuous output is ?:)
Thanks

What continuous output?

Small outboards typically don’t charge at low rpm. Given the size of the motor, I’m guessing 6 to 10 Amps per hour at elevated rpm.

Depth of discharge of a battery is very important to life expectancy. Discharge greater than 50% will shorten life considerably

Chat GPT says the standard M18D has no electrical output at all, but the M18E2 is good for 80 watts, or 7 Amps. As mentioned above, this spec is most likely at a pretty high RPM, close to idle I wouldn't expect much at all.

What electrical items are on all / most of the time ?
O B motor electrical amps is always at WOT rpms.
You are probably right about buying a much bigger battery. (y)

There was a charging coil in there ( complete with continuity and not down to earth ) but thats all there was so I gets the Temu reg /rect and pretty much gunna hope for the best .
7a sounds useful but Im thinkin that Im mostly going to be in putt mode , was even thinkin a elcheapo electric outboard ( watersnake ) for the final approach .
I have only ever waded about in the estuary stabbin at flounders but I got my whole right leg chopped off a while ago , so the plan is to basically let the tide push me in and out with a few adjustments to keep me over the deeper channels

Boat ( Bris 3.8m .... the black double skinned one ) . Im going to plot the channels on my gps so I can stay on them in the dark .:)
Thanks slowleak , I hadnt thought of a lipo power pac , sounds really useful

Do not use a LIPO battery in that small boat !! LIPO chemistry batteries are the ones that burst into flames for no reason at any time.
Buy a LIFEPO4 chemistry battery for use in that small boat. They are the safest battery type available.
TIE the boat to you with a rope at all times. I have had a boat drift away. I really panicked on that one.

Thanks for that , I probly would have got the wrong one .
:) With one leg , after 1 stranding I do now have a 'get home" plan sorted before I leave home in case it all turns to custard , basically dont do anything stupid . I spend a fair bit of time on and crossing the local river ( The Aparima river at Thornbury NZ, downstream is the estuary I plan on floundering ) on my quad fishing so I do have to think about the risk before I get to "adventurous" as there aint no walking home , and despite the obvious benefits of having it I usually leave my ph at home .
