Hi everyone,

I have a 50hp Tohatsu M50D -92 that is very hard to cold start. When the engine is warm it starts immediately.
It starts after approx. 5 minutes of trying. I have to change the spark plugs two times every summer because for some reason they get weared out. I have checked that the choke works so that can?t be the problem.
Does anybody have an idea what I could try?

Regards,

Have your carburetors cleaned at a dealer.

Having wet plugs is usually an indication of a carburetor issue. I would have your dealer focus his efforts there. But, a defective ignition component can also cause fouling. So can a host of mechanical issues. I would pick one of the engine systems and start testing, using your service manual as an aid or take it into a dealer.
