Can anyone tell me where i can purchase a gear and trottle shifter for a 18hp 2 stroke Tohatsu outboard
I am thinking of a universial type
one i can get at a good price.

steering , gear and trottle.
i have just finish building a 17ft fishing boat.
and i am goint to use a tohatsu 18 hp no# M18E2.
the cable length is 14 ft
so let me know what you got

Paul, what I have is a factory throttle/shift box with cables, nothing for steering other than the bracket that is on the motor itself. The only problem, the cables are only 8-9 feet long, so they are too short for what you needed (I measured from where they exit the box out to the end). What I was/am interested in is swapping my remote setup for a tiller assy and all linkage that goes with it. The engine I have is a Tohatsu 9.9C 2S. Bob

The Tohatsu contols would be either of these, depending on whether you have electric start right now:

If you have (and will keep) a start button on the motor (or if there isn't any electric start), get
3B7Q843601 RC BOX, RC5D (MFS5B/6B,8/9.8A3), AMB-W/O ELECT START $312.32

If you need key-start on the RC box, get
3B7Q843503 RC BOX, RC5C (MFS8A3/9.8A3), AMB w/ elec start $386.13

In addition to the control, you need to add:
398838801M SRC KIT-9.9B2-18D $173.77
and
two (2) cables, Part # HC49J96-14FT $44.25 each.
