Found this on CL.

http://fargo.craigslist.org/boa/1844776510.html

2900.00 for an exceptionally clean and good looking vessel with all the goodies...

Tempted to see what he has to say...

I did notice that for a 10 yr. old boat, it has no #'s, nor trailer plates. However in ND you don't need trailer plates if you boat is current.

Its a great looking boat for $2900.00 bucks... I have 3500 to spare.

Just wonder what kind of response I would get...

Scam???

Just thought I'd pass this one along...

Happy boating!!!

Re: Too good to be true???

MOst likely a scam. Maybe not a scam but all the "click here" spots suggests something is up. Not to mention all the jibberish about submarines and the royal navy at the end of the ad.

Does anyone know why those scam CL ads have those wierd jibberish sayings at the end?

SCAM. Email them. They will say it is on a military base, and will have to be freight forwarded to your house. They say the boat will be looked over by a mechanic and shipped to you..... AFTER you give them your bank account info.

I once said, oh im a veteran and am able to visit that base so i can look at it..... NO RESPONSE

Definitely a scam. Whatever you do DO NOT click on any links imbedded in the ad. In fact, you should go ahead and flag it.

Re: Too good to be true???

The scam boats usually don't have registration numbers. For sale by owners always do. And then there's this that leaves no doubt:

Equipment Strictly speaking and uniquely a submarine is a boat as defined by the Royal Navy. Some boats too large for the naval definition include the Great Lakes freighter, riverboat, narrowboat and ferryboat .

WTF???? I flagged too, but I think we have previously agreed to harrass and waste their time. With that comes the realization that our time is worth less than theirs, but so be it . . .

It's SCAM!!!! I e-mail about a 2009 Tracker boat in Chicago. It was a $10,000
boat for $2,500. It was at a shipping company already. I had to wire money to some Auto place in South Carolina. I called the shipping company about the boat and they said they don't have the boat nor do they store anything.

Re: Too good to be true???

I think our Federal gov't. should establish an e-mail address this sort of scam can be forwarded to so the law enforcers can actually nail some of these bastards. They got all these cops looking for people to arrest anyway & you hear alot of BS from politicians about stopping internet scams. I know it's more important to the politicians to take care of their special interest groups than us. If a few of these scammers go to prison I'll bet there will be less of them sending this crap out. If this is too political for this site, I'm sorry, go ahead & delete it. I don't want to violate the rules of this great site.

Re: Too good to be true???

The easiest way to get rid of a boat is to sell it to a boat dealer for cash.
That's also the least amount of money you'd expect to get for a boat. Typically, a dealer might pay about half of the amount of money they'd expect to get in a sale.
So on a $10,000 boat, it wouldn't be all that hard for the seller to get an easy $5000 or so from a boat dealer.
Why then, would this person bother advertising it, and dealing with the issues that private selling pose, for a miniscule value of a quarter or less of it's worth? Things like that should set off an immediate red flag.

Not much the Feds will do unless it is a re-election issue.

Hello,

This 2000 Lund 1850 Tyee GS Signature Edition ITS, runs and drives excellent. This boat has been extremely well maintained with a full service history. Free of any liens or loans. This boat is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions. I bought it when i was serving in Fort Belvoir, U.S. Army base near Bethesda, MD and now I am in United Kingdom. I have dropped my price to $2,900.00 USD (purchase price) since this is an Urgent Sale! and I need to sell it before 20 July, when I will be deployed in Iraq with my platoon replacing the troops scheduled to come home. If you're interested to conclude this purchase in a timely manner I will open a case with eBay and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. The financial part will be managed by them, which means that you will have a 5 days inspection period before committing to buy the boat. In this way both, buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the boat, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions. So if you are interested please e-mail me back for more details about the transaction.
Here you can find more pictures with the boat: http://sheacaplice.com/content/

Thank you and have a great day,
Corporal Scott Bachand
