Too much filler?

I asked this question yesterday, but I should know better than to ask a boating question on labor day weekend.:D

Here's the deal. the original transom that I removed did not reach completely to the sides. It was two inches short on each side. I cut the new transom intending on copying the old design. When I dry fit the rough cut wood, I noticed that I was only about an inch shy on either side. So now I'm thinking that it might be better to fill in the 1" gap, and have the transom reach all the way to both sides. The question is, is that too much filler?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Too much filler?

What kind of filler? If it's epoxy and something, you're fine. Same with poly for the most part, provided you prep the surfaces well.

Don't start a second thread on the same question, especially if you haven't gotten an answer in the first one. Topics scroll down the page to the next page if something newer is posted (either a new topic or an update to an old one). You can msg an admin to delete the other one, or just leave it for now and they'll delete it if they see it.

As long as you fill it all in you'll be fine. And it really doesn't mater if it's epoxy or poly, just continue using whatever you were.

Re: Too much filler?

Great. Thanks! I just wanted to be sure it would be structurally sound. I'm using Poly. I've seen a couple of recipes for goop, or peanut butter, or whatever you call it. I'll try them out and see what works best.

Sorry about the repost - I do more reading than posting.
