How much is too much? I checked the oil tonight and it is over full by ~ 3/8" on the dip stick. Is this enough to cause a problem?

When I changed it in the fall I don't thin k I got it all out and then added too much...........

Am I OK or should I remove some?

Why take a chance... It's fairly easy to drain a little bit...

Re: Too much oil

i don't know how much is too much fbt. but 3/8" is certainly too much. and since over full is real bad, aireating. if it were mine, and since suckin some off aint to much of a thing with these oil siphones, i'd suck'er down a bit......

someone will let us in on the facts i reckon fbt. that was just my laymans way of thinking of it.....if i know its wrong, and i can change it, especialy if its "easy" ( i'm kinda lazy, sometimes). why not do it and not run the risk of issues that may occur....hope yer gettin in some good spring boatin man.......

You can always add,I always bring at least a qt.of the oil I use in the boat with us , follow your gut instinct, If you feel you need to , then you prob. should. It would at least put your mind at ease,;) that way you don't have to worry yourself sick over it, and enjoy :)

Did you run the engine after your oil change? The filter will take almost an Qt. of oil.
