Too much water in the bilge?

With the recent addition of heavier motors(bf225 and bf15 kicker) to the transom of my 22' Pursuit walkaround, I have been paying more attention to the water I'm taking on and how much is in the bilge. I have always taken on small amounts of water in the bilge, I guess it comes in from all the leaking gaskets, joints, and seams in the deck as well as the round access ports. This water has never been enough to activate the float switch, but when the bilge is manually turned on it will pump out water for about 10 seconds. I tested the float it does work, I just need more water in the bilge to activate it. My question is how much water in the bilge is too much and should there always be water in the bilge after a day of fishing? Mine is never completely dry. Will this lead to rotting problems, and should I vent the bilge to let more air circulate thru to let it dry while sitting on the trailer? Any and All ideas will be appreciated.
