Bought my first boat, a fixer upper. It's a 1969, 14-0 long runabout with a closed bow. Had it on the water for the first time this week. I want to use it to putter around, do some fishing and maybe pull a tube. There will only be 2 people in the boat. There dosn't seem to be much room to fit a cooler, some fishing stuff,saftey/emergency equipment, battery, gas, etc... Anybody have any space saving/boat stretching ideas?

Put a shelf under the closed bow and it will give you more horizontal space to store stuff like ring bouy, rope, ect.

You could always leave your gear for one pastime in the tow vehicle if you plan on doing both that trip. I think it would be worth the extra space to make one trip up the ramp to the truck and make the exchange.

Definatley defalte the tube if you want to keep it in the boat while other activities are going on. There was a recent post about this.

Technically you shouldn't have to worry about storing your emergency gear aka PFDs. :p

Good Luck
