this is how far i took it apart!!!! pretty brave of me huh!! my mechanic kept telling me not too..It will come apart and broken pieces!!!...but I am a tinkerer.

can this clutch dop be installed 180 degrees around and use the sharp unworrn edges to drive??

the ( I am assuming because it gets used more) forward gear is worn more about 1/16th" rad...the reverse has maybe half that...the unworn edges might have a 1/64th" rad!!

the motor had been repainted and badly...so i am stripping the whole thing and sandblasting and repainting..!!! I got a few months before i need the boat

the drive shaft was worn about 1/5th the spline( large spline only 4 teeth)

and my mechanic freaked and said he wanted to see the crank end and that involved removing ther power head...and so that is why i kept going to werer i am now!

the crank was worn about half as much as the DS...and so i welded up the drive shaft splines and machined them back down...I actually left the width a little wider to make up for the play in the crank end...fits like a glove now...

anyone know why there would be a lot of wear and gouging around the drive shaft RIGHT above were the impeller is mounted?

from looking at the impeller housing...there is a thin stainless steel plate and then about 3/4" of air...the worn area seems like it would be in the air area!!!!

the groove worn on the DS is about 3/16th " wide and about .02" deep!!
