Mark 28A 22hp 1959 vintage needs complete overhaul it looks like as I can't get shift to operate and I am sure it needs a new water pump. Manual calls for a number of special tools What special tools do I really need considering I have a gagage full of auto tools used in my restoration project of five old cars. This is my first attempt at outboards. I have the capability of making tools in my shop if I could get pictures of the tools. It sounds like these tools are hard to come by. One posting advised some one got some old Merc tools on ebay. What site on ebay if some one knows I have never used ebay. Thanks Ron

Re: Tools required

Hi Ron
Special tools are nice. How ever sometimes not really necessary. And some are easily made in the shop. If you can post the special tool #s that you need, I will look and see if I have any pictures of them. For a one time project I don't think I would invest much time looking for or money purchessing some of these tools. I always get mine when I don't need them, they just sort of happen along. I have some I have never used and probably never will.

Hi Allen,
Thanks, I appreciate your offer. I received my manual today and I went thru it marking all the pages that apply to my 28A. You had sent me most of the important pages. I'll study this manual I hope I can buy the bearings, seals, water pump, and carb parts I will need.

Thanks, Ron
