Engine will not go above 2800 RPM. I pulled the top 2 plug wires and there is no difference in engine idle. However if I pull any other wire it dies.

1. How often do those ignition wires go bad I think they may be original?
2. Could it be a carberator problem?

If you pull two wires and you get no difference it is definatly not the carb. I am no force expert but you might want to be looking at the coils. Iboats sells a syloc manual for that motor. It goes through the troubleshooting system for your motor. Here is the link force manual

You might try replacing the plugs but I seriously doubt that is the problem. Something is faulty in your ignition system.

Stop wasting time........known Force problem. You have one stator, two power packs, and four coils that run four cylinders. If you know what you're doing switch power packs around. Bet'cha the problem moves south. Questions, ask away..

And as a follow up, if spark comes and goes, your stator is bad, as well as maybe a power pack. Coils are easy to switch around for checking, but try the PP first ifs no spark at all. And also tell more info on posts. Year, model, etc
