top 5 uncommon dream muscle cars

Ok..All of this "best engine ever" reading has really sparked my American Muscle memories and decided what my top 5 (non Ford/Chevy badged) muscle cars would be..... I have owned a 66 Chevelle, and a 68 Cougar XR7 GT and a 71 Mach 1..Soooo I've been lucky enough to own a few greats.. But without further ado......Not particulary in any order....My dream 5 are..

69 Dodge Dart 440
69 AMC/AMX Javelin 390
69 Pontiac GTO "The Judge"
70 Plymouth Superbird
70 Hemi Cuda Convertible

thats some serious ski machine..I remember being a kid searching the classifieds as a kid and all of these wild 19 ft needle nosed ski boats with blown 454's..and they all had black diamond tuck n roll vinyl..lol

That Baracuda convertible is a rare item,they were going for $250,000.00 quite a while ago.I think they only built 7 or 8 of them with the Hemi.
My ex BIL had a '71 with the Hemi/Torqflite in Hemi Orange.He taped over the Hemi on the rear quarter because he couldn't get any races)
It sure was hot to ride in in the summer.Ron G

All nice cars but I am partial to the 1965 Barracuda, with the 413 hemi, 415 hp, and is in the history books for being the first car to launch all 4 wheels in the air on take off!

I did indeed....I also said American Muscle JB, sir..There is a whole 'nother world of foriegn exotics..But..The Duesenberg, is that the "boat tail"?

Are you talking about the Hemi Under Glass...with the engine behind the driver?

If so...I still recall the picture on the cover of Hot Rod....

With ya on the Buick..Barely missing my list is the Hurst/Olds..The Cougar I had was a GT with the 390...My 66 Chevelle had a "baby rat" 327..The Mustang had the 351C....was racing a 67 Camero on the 405 in Cali, doing 100 plus when the oil pump took a dive..ouch

Also cars I've had was a 67 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 318, my second car was a 69 Nova...The Nova gave up her 327 & Turbo 350 and went into the 66 Chevelle...I traded a POS Kawasaki KZ 400 for the Chevelle, blown 283 and powerglide..Drug her home on Friday, swapped the motor and tranny and was laying 3 block long burnouts on Sunday afternoon..In front of my friends house that I traded the bike for the Chevelle..lol

FWIW the 413 was a"wedge" engine. It was never produced as a Hemi. Although it was produced with a very unique duel quad cross ram intake.

They also made a 426 "wedge" as well as the 426 Hemi.
I rode a lot of miles listening to that "413" roaring at high speed,they were standard equipment on the M113 personel carrier when it first came out in the early '60s and I was in the army in Germany and got to ride in them often.Ron G

Mustangs & Cobras..out...Non Ford/Chevy..and V8 pintos..well those were shoebox specials for the 1/4 mile...Dont think that was a factory car, even so it's a Ford

Hear ya on the Challenger..had a chance to buy a 71, but the guy (co-worker) kept flaking, it was for sale, then it wasn't...Then it was, then it wasn't..talk about frustrating...

But the reason I said Non Ford/Chevy, because the entire list would be 428 SCJ Cobras or the GT500KR series on the FORD side..The Chevy side would be full of 396SS Cameros or Chevelles,

I had a 47 GMC Panel..used to be a Helms Bakery truck..was a pile of rust and thats about it..never restored her like I thought..but then I was 13 or 14 years old too..

anything that isnt a common ride. Ill take an Olds, Buick or Pontiac over a Chevy any day. I dont dislike Chevy, I just prefer being a little different.

I dont really care what it is, Im not going to leave it stck anyways.
