I need to remove the thottle assembly so i can remove the console. Can i do this without removing the entire length of cables (that run to outboard)? do i remove the black cover off the right side of the control body and get to the end of cable connections?
I've read on the forum people saying to access an "allen" screw head at the bottom of the handle, thus allowing the handle to come off. But my controller doesn't have this and it really doesn't apear that the handle is meant to come off.

I need to be able to get the handle off and drop is straight through the mounting hole in the console.

I know a bunch of you must have done this before. Take and look at the pics and let me know your thoughts.

much appreciated......

from my experience it is easier to disconnect cable from motor and pull through console opening.

Re: top mount control removal with pic question.

well, i undid the cables from the motor and pulled it out. Of course this meant cutting an access hole in the top of one of the back pods to get the cables out. i'm quessing the cables where installed as the boat was getting built built as there was no way the could have been installed afterwards given all the small holes, in two stringers, the cables and straight-ends went through. Thanks for input. just wanted to post the results for others that may be searching for the same thing.
